Dundee FC says everyone at Dens is saddened to learn of the death of former midfielder and youth coach, John McGlashan, aged 50.

He played his part in The Dark Blues' title winning season of 1997-98, featured for Montrose and also played for and managed Arbroath.

Chairman of the Dundee FC Supporters' Association Kenny Ross has been paying tribute:

"It's very sad news.

"He was a local boy, he lived the dream.

"The fact he was a local lad and played for the club he loved certainly makes him a local hero as part of that promotion wining side.

“He played for Arbroath and Montrose, managed there as well, so he has a real local connection with a lot of clubs.
