Three arrested after disorder at Hampden Park following Rangers v St Johnstone
St Johnstone FC confirmed one of their employees was assaulted during the disturbance
A man has been arrested and charged after an assault outside Hampden Park, following a game between Rangers and St Johnstone.
The incident happened around 4.45pm on Saturday 17 August, when a 51 year old woman was assaulted and had a St Johnstone supporters drum taken from her.
A 22 year old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, in connection with the robbery and assault.
The woman did not require hospital treatment.
Two further people, a 16 year old boy, and a 21 year old man were arrested in connection with breach of the peace and resisting arrest, after a disturbance took place while officers were responding to the initial incident.
Both were charged and are also set to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
In a post to X, formerly Twitter, St Johnstone FC said: “We are aware of an incident involving one of our club employees prior to today’s Premier Sports Cup match against Rangers at Hampden Park.
“We are working with Rangers Football Club, Police Scotland, the SPFL and the SFA, with an active investigation now underway.”
