A Kinross music venue's won its battle to stave off permanent closure, after thousands of pounds worth of donations flooded in.

Last month we told you about the plight facing Backstage, which missed out on government funding.

Now it's raised £19,000 through an online appeal. Promoter David Mundell says it's a huge weight off his shoulders.

"Tremendously relieved, that's for sure. It was a four week campaign and we managed to reach it after three weeks," he said.

"That enables us to survive until the end of March. I've been absolutely amazed by the incredible support of people.

"When they donated something, they've left various comments which expressed how important Backstage is to them personally."

The venue was deemed on of four at risk of imminent closure by a charity called the Music Venue Trust, which is looking to keep grassroot facilities open.
