Tay Road Bridge: First phase of roadworks to be completed on Friday
The north bound carriageway will reopen after almost six months of work
The first phase of major resurfacing works on the Tay Road Bridge is set to be completed this week.
The north bound carriageway will reopen on Friday after almost six months of work, meaning the south bound carriageway will have all restrictions lifted.
The work was supposed to be completed last month, but was delayed until 15 December.
Drivers will then have until 3 March, when the second phase of work on the opposite carriageway gets underway.
Chair of the Tay Road Bridge Joint Board Councillor Gary Holt said:
“While we are only half-way through this contract, I am pleased with progress so far. "
“This work is essential to keep the structure safe and in good condition and aside from a few minor incidents, drivers have coped well with what I know was an inconvenience, particularly for people who use the bridge every day. "
“When work is completed in both directions next year the new road surface will provide a smoother and more secure journey across the bridge for drivers.”
Before the bridge re-opens at 5am on Friday, it will close from 12am along with a stretch of the A92 to allow the road works to be removed.
