Suspicious package forces Angus businesses to evacuate

Bomb disposal experts were called to the recycling centre in Forfar around 2pm this afternoon - with nearby buildings remaining closed

Bomb disposal experts have been called out to Angus after a device was found at Forfar recycling centre.

The suspicious package was detected around 2pm on Queenswell road - forcing nearby businesses to evacuate.

They remain closed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: " We were called to a report of a suspicious package at Angus Council Recycling Centre on Queenswell Road in Forfar around 2pm on Tuesday, October 15.

“A 50 metre cordon was put in place and people were evacuated from neighbouring buildings and local businesses.

“The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team will attend to check the item and make it safe."
