Saturday's winner over Hamilton came as a relief to winger Stefan Scougall after he finally managed to break his goal drought for St Johnstone.

The winger has had a frustrating time of it since arriving from Sheffield United in the summer, but made his mark by grabbing the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Accies.

It has been a long time coming for Scougall, who has admitted he needs to add more of an end product to his game if he is to prove his worth in Perth.

"It's good to get that duck off my back here," said. "It took me longer than I expected to get my first goal, but it came up at the weekend and I'm delighted with that.

"I don't think I've done enough of that (scoring and assisting).

"In general my performances have been okay, but it's trying to get that final ball, the final goal to improve and doing it when it counts, like at the weekend.

"I need to add that to my game.''

He added: "I'm not actually sure how many shots I've had on goal; I've not had that many.

"Maybe a couple against Ross County where I went close, but other than that I can't really recall being in goalscoring positions, which I was at the weekend.

"So if I can get into positions, I'm fairly confident I will score.

"I set myself goals every year, and to be honest I'm behind where I want to be in terms of goals (scored), but hopefully this can start a little run.''

The win marked another three points on the road for Saints, who have now won their last two away from McDiarmid Park, but their home form remains somewhat unflattering.

Despite having started the season brightly with three wins and a draw in Perth, Tommy Wright's side remain without a home win since the end of September, but Scougall is keen to put that record behind them.

"We know that our home performances haven't been as good as the start of the season when we picked up a couple of wins," he said ahead of the visit of Aberdeen. "But I think its important we don't ponder on that, we know we need to go out and put on a good enough performance.

"Our away form over the last couple of games has been okay, and maybe that suits us, but it's up to us to work on that."
