A unique Star Wars tribute, featuring Dundee’s newest landmark, has gone viral.

The video turns V&A Dundee into a Star Wars space port.

It was created by Gary Gowans, a lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone, and has been watched and shared hundreds of thousands of times on social media.

Mr. Gowans said he was amazed by the response to the short film, which has had over 220,000 hits so far.

He said: "I did it while I was recovering from the flu and was trying to cheer myself up a bit.

"I love the V&A and drive past it all the time but I can't help but get the sense it has a slight Star Wars look to it at the moment.

"When I go by, the Darth Vader theme tune comes into my head so at one point I went down and took some photographs of it thinking- 'what can I do with this?'"

Amazingly, this was the graphic designer's first ever post on social media.

He added: "I'm pretty good with computers but when it comes to social media, I'm not particularly adept- so the next post will be a disappointment, no doubt!"

A V&A Dundee spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to see talented people like Gary being inspired by our building before we even open next year, resulting in such fun and creative work.”
