St Johnstone have been granted the freedom of Perth after councillors, including one who supports Hibs, backed the move at a virtual meeting this morning.
Callum Davidson's men capped a memorable season by beating the Edinburgh side at Hampden to win his second trophy in his first year in charge.
The region's council leader Murray Lyle was tasked with giving the green light to the symbolic title.
"To grant St Johnstone football club the freedom of the city of Perth to celebrate their double success in attaining the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup in the same season, 2020/21," he said
"I have great pleasure in moving this paper, and look forward to moving the ceremony in the future."
Despite councillor Peter Barrett's sporting allegiances lying with the green of Hibernian, he also gave his backing to the award.
"Although I wasn't supporting them on the day I want to congratulate the whole team, the manager Callum Davidson, the chairman Steve Brown and all of the backroom staff on their outstanding achievement," he said.
"Though it grieves me to say it, St Johnstone outsmarted and outplayed Hibs in the final to guarantee their unique and unrivalled place in the club's 137 year history."
A ceremony will take place when coronavirus restrictions allow.
