Celtic will begin the defence of their cinch Premiership title with a home game against Ross County on Saturday, August 5.

Brendan Rodgers first game back in charge at Parkhead will be shown live on Sky Sports at 12.30pm.

Rangers will also play on the opening day live on television, with their trip to Kilmarnock at 5.15pm.

The first Old Firm game of the season takes place at Ibrox on matchday four and is provisionally scheduled for September 3.

Aberdeen, who finished third last season, travel to Livingston.

Hearts, with Steven Naismith in charge but not in the dug out, will play St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

The final fixture on the opening day sees newly promoted Dundee host Motherwell, which will be Tony Docherty's first league game as boss.

Hibernian's game against St Mirren completes game-week one, with their game on Sunday at 3pm due to likely European commitments.

The second round of fixtures on Saturday, August 12 - which are still subject to TV coverage selection - sees Celtic travel to Aberdeen and Rangers host Livingston.

And there will be plenty of big clashes in store over the season ahead.

The traditional New Year head-to-head between Rangers and Celtic is pencilled in for December 30 at Celtic Park, while Scotland's big two square off again in Govan on April 6.

The fourth and final Old Firm league derby of the season will take place after the split in the East End.

The league concludes on Sunday May 19.
