Space centre plans to be unveiled in Kinross

Plans for a space centre on the edge of Kinross will be unveiled at a public meeting tonight.

The Aero Space Kinross project aims to tell the story and science of flight and space exploration.

It's hoped it will inspire future generations to get involved in aviation and could attract around 60,000 tourists to the area each year.

Alisdair Stewart is behind the project and says the town is the perfect location for a space centre.

He said ''there are people here microlighting, ballooning, sky diving, general aviation and it's all done in this area because it's just north of the Edinburgh Airport terminal maneuvering area, so we've got unrestricted airspace''.

The event will be held in the lecture theatre of Loch Leven Community Campus at 7.30pm.

Residents have been invited to the meeting, where they will be briefed on the latest proposals and get the chance to provide feedback and suggestions.
