Some Perth and Kinross schools to reopen tomorrow
It's after widespread centre closures
Several schools in Perth and Kinross will reopen tomorrow after today's closures.
But, the council says the situation at each school is subject to changing on a daily basis and that some centres will only be partially open.
The shutters had been brought down for all primary schools, early learning and childcare settings.
Parents and carers will be provided with updates at 1pm each day on social media and on Perth and Kinross’ website.
The disruption is because of non-teaching staff with Unison striking in a dispute over pay.
Schools that will be open tomorrow are:
• Abernyte
• Blair Atholl
• Collace
• Dunning
• Forgandenny
• Glendelvine
• Glenlyon
• Kinloch Rannoch
• Portmoak
• Ruthvenfield
Today was the start of two weeks of planned industrial action, with Unison members targeting John Swinney’s constituency in the hopes it will lead to more money being offered.
The First Minister said: “I think it’s totally unacceptable for my constituents to be singled out for industrial action just because their member of the Scottish Parliament happens to be First Minister.
“The GMB and Unite have accepted the latest pay deal and their members are not on strike.
“The Finance Secretary made clear that we have put more money into local government to help fund the deal and we have no more money to offer, and that remains my position.”
