Sir Gavin Williamson resigns after allegations of bullying
He says the allegations were "becoming a distraction"
Sir Gavin Williamson has resigned from the Prime Minister's top team after allegations were made that he bullied colleagues.
The Cabinet Office minister says he's stepping back from government so he can comply with a complaints process against him and clear his name.
He said he "refuted" claims made about how his "past conduct" had been characterised.
However, he said the claims had become "a distraction for the good work this government is doing for the British people".
As a result, he had decided to "step back from government" and would "fully comply with the complaints process".
In recent days, Sir Gavin's has been under pressure after a series of expletive-laden texts sent by him to former Chief Whip Wendy Morton became public.
Then earlier today it was reported that he had bullied a senior civil servant and told them to harm themselves.
