Sir Chris Hoy has been named as an ambassador for the UCI Cycling World Championships.
It is 500 days until the event, which will see athletes compete across 13 different disciplines of the sport, comes to Scotland.
The Olympic champion told Tay FM: "I would have loved to have been a part of something like this.
"It is not just elite athletes taking part in this event, there will be amateur competitors too.
"There will be kids from a range of age groups competing against each other for BMX.
"It will be amazing to see them taking part in the same events as their heroes."
The 11-time UCI World Champion and six-time Olympic gold medallist will support the 11-day event, which will combine the 13 existing UCI World Championships into a first-of-its-kind mega-event, taking place in Glasgow and across Scotland from 3-13 August 2023.
Sir Chris added: "Having competed in front of my home crowd many times, I know how much the people of Glasgow and Scotland will get behind the Championships.
"I’m delighted to launch the Champions of the Worlds initiative today and meet the first three Champions to hear about the brilliant work they do to promote cycling and how they’re getting behind the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.
"I’d urge all cycling enthusiasts in Scotland and beyond to register to support the Championships and help is delivering something truly ground breaking in August 2023.”

"With just 500 days’ to go, we cannot wait to offer an amazing experience for our citizens, athletes, officials, media and spectators from around the world and for them to experience first-hand how People Make Glasgow.”
