Seven charged in Dundee after thefts and drug offences
It's after a week-long operation to crack down on anti-social and criminal behaviour
Seven people have been arrested and charged after theft and drug offences in Dundee.
The week-long operation commencing November 30 saw two men aged 28 and 32 arrested and charged after the recovery of cocaine worth £44,500 and a three-figure sum of cash.
Cocaine worth around £1,500 and a four-figure sum of cash were also recovered after two men aged 57 and 41 were stopped.
A 30-year-old man was also arrested and charged following a string of thefts from cars.
Officers also arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with outstanding warrants and cautioned and charged him in connection with shoplifting.
And after several shoplifting offences from a shopping centre, a 45-year-old man was also arrested and charged.
Detective Inspector Scott Carswell of CID said: “The aim of this operation was to ensure that Dundee city centre remains a safe place to work, live and visit, along with removing those involved in criminal activity, anti-social behaviour and drug dealing from the streets.
“We have seen first-hand the devastation and destruction that drugs bring, and the public, retailers and licensed premises continually tell us that tackling this type of crime is important to them.
“We are determined to make the city safer, and the more drugs and drug dealers we take out of circulation, the more we lessen the impact of this illicit trade on our communities.
“Our work continues with our partner agencies, and along with the support that we get from the public we will continue to target them.
“No one should tolerate drug dealing where they live.
"If there is drug dealing, going on in your area – tell us.
“I want to reassure the residents of Dundee that we will act on any information you provide to us.”
Anyone with information regarding drug dealing or criminality should contact Police Scotland on 101, or speak to any officer. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
