A search is under way for a teenager who went missing at a disused quarry in Fife last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Prestonhill Quarry in Inverkeithing, Fife, at around 9.20pm.

A Police Scotland spokesman said officers responded to a report that an 18-year-old man was in the water.

"A search of the water is under way and inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing,'' he said.

Last August, 18-year-old Cameron Lancaster died at the same spot after jumping into the water from cliffs.

The quarry is notorious in the area for teenagers swimming in the water during the summer months.
