Coastguard, lifeboats and a police helicopter have been involved in a search of the River Tay to establish the whereabouts of a man who was seen in the water.

Officers were alerted by members of the public to a man “swimming” between Dundee and Broughty Ferry in the Stannergate area at around 5.40pm on Monday 25 July.

The man is described as being in his 40s, white, with a bald head. He was wearing a red T-shirt, a black jacket, dark trousers and Converse trainers.

Officers are appealing for either the man in question to contact them to let them know he is safe and well, or any members of the public who have information or have seen a man matching his description are urged to contact police on 101.
