Scott Allan and Roarie Deacon have signed for Dundee, the Dens Park club have announced.

Celtic midfielder Allan, 25, has penned a season-long loan deal while midfielder Deacon, also 25, has signed a two-year deal after moving from Sutton United.

The pair have become manager Neil McCann's first signings for the Tayside club.

Allan started his career with Dundee United before moving to West Brom in 2012.

After several loan spells away from the Hawthorns he returned to Scotland with Hibernian.

He joined Celtic in 2015 and the former Scotland under-21 player won the Ladbrokes Premiership title with the Hoops only to move to Rotherham on loan last season.

Ask what attracted him to Dens, he said: "I had a meeting with the manager and obviously his enthusiasm about the new season and taking the club forward and me being a part of that was the main reason for me coming here".

He added: "I think I'll bring creativity to the team and I hope to create chances for my teammates and add some goals".

Deacon, a Londoner, came through the youth ranks at Arsenal but failed to make the first team.

After moving to Sunderland he also struggled to make an impact and had spells at Stevenage and Crawley before joining Sutton last season, where he featured during their FA Cup run that took in games against both Leeds and his former club Arsenal.

Dark Blues boss, Neil McCann is delighted with the new signings, and hopes it is just the beginning of adding new faces to the squad.

He said: "Scott was a big target for me when I thought about recruitment for the new season so I am delighted we've been able to acquire him for the season.

"I think him coming here is the best thing for him so to say I'm delighted is an understatement”.

On Deacon, he said: "Roarie shot to fame in a lot of people's eyes, I suppose from the Sutton's run in the FA Cup but I was aware of him beforehand.

"I'd been speaking to his agent a little bit and spoke to the kid himself and he's at an age where he wants to move his career on”.

He added: "These two signings will hopefully have an impact on other potential signings in that they know we mean business, they know we're trying to bring in a certain type and standard of player and if they do, then that's great for us".
