MET office yellow weather warning for parts of north east Scotland extended
The alert will now be in place until midday on Sunday
A MET office yellow weather warning for rain in parts of the north east of Scotland still recovering from Storm Babet has been extended to midday on Sunday.
The alert comes into force at noon today and covers Dundee, Angus and parts of Perthshire as well as Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
It means flooding and disruption to transport is likely.
The news will bring fresh worries for people living in areas such as Brechin where dozens of homes were evacuated due to severe flooding last week.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued amber flood alerts for three areas: Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, Dundee and Angus, and Tayside.
Last week Storm Babet led to the deaths of 7 people across the UK, including three in Scotland.
Arbroath man Peter Pelling, who was 61, sadly died after his vehicle became trapped in floodwater in Aberdeenshire on Friday.
57-year-old Wendy Taylor also lost her life when she was swept into the Water of Lee at Glen Esk on Thursday, while 56-year-old John Gillan's van was hit by a tree near Forfar on the same day.
