There's a big rise in the number of schoolkids self-isolating in Perth and Kinross.

Nearly 250 are currently at home, that's just over 40% more than last week.

But the number of coronavirus cases has dropped, with 21 positive tests among pupils detected between 24 and 30 March, seven fewer than the previous week.

Oakbank Primary has the largest amount of pupils out of the classroom, with 60 self-isolating after four positive tests were detected among children.

More children returned to school across Scotland on 15 March, when older primary pupils went back full-time and more high school students went back on a part-time basis.

All pupils will be back at school full-time following the Easter break.

A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross council said: "We take the safety of our children and young people extremely seriously and have robust risk assessments in place to reduce the risk of transmission of coronavirus.

"We have an established process in place to deal with any cases of COVID-19 identified amongst pupils and staff in our schools in line with national and local health guidance.

"Whenever there is a confirmed case, pupils and staff who are identified as close contacts are asked to self-isolate as a precautionary measure. Pupils are supported to learn at home until they can return to school."
