Dundee will hold its first ever Santa Dash this year.

The closed road event will start and finish at City Square on Sunday, November 26, following a route through the city centre.

Santas will head along High Street to the Murraygate then cut along Panmure Street past the iconic landmark of The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum then pass DC Thomson HQ at Meadowside.

They will then go up and round West Bell Street before circling down and along Ward Road before heading towards Reform Street and the finishing North Pole in City Square.

Alan Rae, Lead Trustee for Sport at Leisure & Culture Dundee said: “This will be an excellent event! Christmas is a great time of year and the sight of so many Santas in the city centre is sure to put everyone in the festive spirit.

“I hope there will be many participants, running, walking, exercising, just taking part, with proceeds going to The Archie Foundation which is such a worthwhile cause for sick children in Dundee and Tayside. It really is going to be a very special day."

Organisers also have the goal of raising lots and lots of cash for The ARCHIE Foundation, the official sponsor for Tayside’s Children’s Hospital.

Cassie Thompson, Director of Fundraising at the ARCHIE Foundation said: “The ARCHIE Foundation is hugely excited to be in partnership with Leisure and Culture Dundee for Dundee’s first City Santa Dash.

“This event is open to all families who would like to take part in a fun and festive event and help raise funds for the Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal for a brand new twin operating theatre suite at Ninewells Children’s Hospital."

The dash is a 2km lap and is open to everyone and can either be done once or twice if participants wish to complete the full 4km race.

Entry includes a Santa suit, finisher’s medal, certificate and goody bag and everyone can take part from Adults down to Under 5s. Once confirmation has been received Santa suits can then be collected from Dundee Ice Arena. Participants can walk the route, run the route, or come along as a spectator.
