Grant launched in memory of man who died on run in Perthshire
Six months after Chris Smith died - his family says the pain of losing him is "horrible"
Exactly six months since he died on a run near a Perthshire mountain, the family of Chris Smith is looking to support talented athletes through a grant scheme.
The 43-year-old's body was found days after he was reported missing.
His family says the pain of losing him is "horrible", but they're now looking to help others who shared his passion for fell running through The Chris Smith Memorial Fund.
His cousin Ruth McKee said: "I know that Chris would be so proud of what Lindsay and the boys and his brothers, sister, parents and all of us were doing.
"At least through the Chris Smith Memorial Fund we can keep his legacy alive and keep doing what he loved and help other people do what he loved.
"It never goes away. Having milestones like this are difficult because obviously people will ask the family how has it been, and it's been horrible.
"There's no way to make that nice."
An online fundraiser has reached almost £20,000, with the family looking to attract sponsors to help roll the project out to as many athletes as possible.
The family is continuing to work behind the scenes to make the project live.
