River Tay search continues after man spotted in water
The coastguard helicopter has been drafted in to help.
Extensive searches of the River Tay and its banks are being carried out after a man was spotted in the water.
Police were alerted to the sighting in Perth just after 9pm on Monday.
The man is believed to be vulnerable missing 20-year-old Iain Guthrie, of Perth, who was reported missing that night.
He is described as being about 5ft 9ins, slim, with short black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen in Perth's Dundee Road at about 8.50pm when he was wearing a dark green fleece, dark blue jeans and dark walking shoes.
Police Scotland said a search launched on Monday night was continuing on Tuesday with help from fire and coastguard teams, specialist search and rescue teams and the coastguard helicopter.
The coastguard said on its website: The UK Coastguard is currently assisting Police Scotland with a search near Queen's bridge in Perth after a person was thought to have been seen in the water.
Three coastguard rescue teams from Carnoustie, St Andrews and Leven are conducting a shoreline search.
The Broughty Ferry RNLI inshore lifeboat, a coastguard helicopter, police and the fire and rescue service are also involved in the search.''
Anyone who knows Mr Guthrie, or who saw a man matching his description in Perth on Monday night, is asked to contact police on 101.
