Reward After Vandals Target Angus Couple
A reward is being put up to catch vandals - who have terrorised an elderly couple in Angus.
They threw eggs at the couple's house in the Gannochy Estate before causing £2000 worth of damage to a nearby fishing hut.
It happened something between 10pm on Sunday and the early hours of Monday morning.
Lianne MacLennan is the co-ordinator of The Angus Glens Moorland Group:
Lianne said: “I am really shocked at this disgraceful attack vandals have made to properties in the Glen.
“It is really awful that people could steal from the charity egg box, it is clearly written that the money is going to charity on the wooden container but the culprits stole both the eggs and the donations already collected.
“The elderly couple are really passionate about their charity work and they are extremely upset about the incidents.
“It is horrible to think how scared they must have been when their house was being pelted with eggs at that time of night.
“Nearly all of the fishing hut’s windows will need to be replaced and it’s door, costing thousands of pounds.
“What we are certain of is that the people who are responsible for this attack were driving in a green Land Rover Discovery with two massive spotlights that sit low on the grill and last three letters of the vehicle registration is LAP.
“Hopefully this information will be enough for someone to come forward about this horrendous theft and vandalism on the estate.
“We are unsure if this is linked but there was also an attempted car theft on a neighbouring estate at the top of the Glen over the weekend.
“Another couple who live quite remote on the estate, leave their car at the bottom of the rough track road that leads to their house. The car was taken out of the gated field and the engine cut out about 100yards down the Glen road. So they pushed it down the banking towards the river and abandoned it.”
