A “Bionic Mum” who lost all her limbs is getting an MBE for her services to charity and supporting amputees.

Corinne Hutton, from Renfrewshire, created Find Your Feet in 2013 to support people after having her hands and feet amputated to prevent life-threatening sepsis.

The charity offers practical, emotional and financial support to those who have suffered limb loss or loss of limb function.

It also provides sporting initiatives and social inclusion projects to help users find their feet in life again.

Now, Corinne has been put forward for the King’s birthday honours.

She said: “I’ll probably get a few princess comments and a wee slagging – I think all my friends and family appreciate that it’s such a big compliment.

Whilst we can jest about it – it’s really flattering.”

The Scottish mum has spearheaded campaigns to raise awareness of sepsis

More than £2,000,000 has been raised to support FYF so far, with a majority of the cash coming from Corinne’s own fundraising.

The Scottish mum has also spearheaded multiple campaigns, including to raise awareness of sepsis, where she partnered up with the Scottish Government, releasing a video detailing the symptoms and dangers of the illness.

Following this success, she launched the #DifferentIsNormal campaign to get everybody talking about their differences.

She then went on to raise awareness of the huge lack of organ, limb and tissue donors in the UK, running a visual campaign by partnering with a body painter, to encourage people to register.

Corinne said: “You’re getting people out of their homes and into group surroundings – you’re doing the peer support and in itself, that makes me feel better.

“You’re not worrying about yourself; you’re not thinking about your own problems. I’ve got several health issues going on at the one time.”

The charity founder is also an author and takes part in TEDx and motivational speaking events across the UK.
