There are now more patients in hospital with coronavirus in Tayside than ever before.

184 are currently in beds, that's 95% of capacity.

"There is a record number of covid patients in our hospitals and our clinical teams are working very hard to care for them and keep as many services open as possible," said Medical Director Doctor Emma Fletcher.

"We're thankfully starting to see the rate of increase of new covid infections in Tayside starting to slow.

"We hope this will lead to a reduction in the number of patients that need to be admitted to hospital for treatment."

The health board has plans to free-up an additional 68 beds for covid patients, but admits care for people deemed a lower priority will be affected.

There are currently nine dedicated coronavirus wards in the region, with the vast majority of patients based at Ninewells.
