Pittenweem pool to get grand re-opening
Water safety message after £200K rennovations
A popular swimming spot in Anstruther will have its grand reopening on Saturday .
The West Braes Project, the group behind the renovation, raised £270,000 of funds with help from Fife Leader and the Fife Environment Trust.
David Thomson, Chairman of The West Braes Project told Tay FM, “We started the project about six or seven years ago to restore the old Victorian sea pool in Pittenweem.
The sea pool had been lying in disrepair for almost 35 years, when the council stopped looking after it.”
“The concrete on all the walls have been re-done, the wall at the back has been increased to support it, some areas have been relandscaped with memorial benches put in place. Two defibrillators have also been installed.”
“We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone down at the reopening. It’s going to be a great event, we have a lot of things for everyone to see and hopefully it will be a fun day.”
45 biodegradable confetti cannons will be set off over the pool, with home baking, food stalls, fairground games, face painting and also a mermaid will be there to take pictures with.
