One of Dundee’s best loved leisure facilities has opened its doors once again…

Lochee Swim & Sports Centre has reopened to the public with a £1 million upgrade.

The centre, which was first established in 1895, received investment of £941,000 from Dundee City Council and Leisure & Culture Dundee, which provides the management for the Centre, has also contributed £150, 000 to improve the customer experience.

The investment in Lochee Swim and Sports Centre has created a changing village that provides an inclusive family friendly environment and makes changing facilities more accessible. The pool hall air handling system has been replaced and there has been the addition of a new sauna and steam room in a new health & well-being area as well as the upgrade of cardio machines in the fitness suite.

Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee Bob Duncan said

“Many people in Dundee and in particular the Lochee area have a great fondness for this heritage building and it continues to be a fantastic community resource. I particularly welcome the additions in the health & well-being area that makes the facility more attractive to visitors and the changing village which will make the centre more appealing to families.”

Council Leader Ken Guild said

“I am delighted to see Lochee Swim & Sports Centre back open following its amazing transformation. Significant investment has gone into this project and I am certain that users will be delighted with his new and improved centre. This is sure to benefit users from throughout Dundee for years to come.”

The Victorian heritage building first opened on December 4, 1895.
