A prisoner who absconded from an open jail has been found by police.

Brian Traynor, 37, failed to return to HMP Castle Huntly near Dundee after a temporary period of leave.

Police were informed of his disappearance on Wednesday afternoon and appealed for information to help track him down.

Officers warned members of the public not to approach Traynor, saying they should contact the force if they saw him.

It was thought he had links to the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas of North Lanarkshire and Traynor was found in nearby Cumbernauld.
