Police in Dundee are looking into a spate of break-ins in the city.

Thieves have hit homes, sheds and even a church hall at the weekend - taking everything from cars to a bottle of wine.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police in Dundee are appealing for information following break-ins to property over the weekend.

"A black Hyundai ix35 car was stolen after thieves broke into an house in Upper Constitution Street sometime between 10.30pm on Saturday (August 20) and 8am on Sunday (August 21). Also stolen was an Acer Laptop, a Samsung tablet and a mobile phone.

"At St Peter and Paul Church Hall, Byron Street, Dundee, thieves made off with a two-figure sum of money from a charity box and a cash box. A bottle of wine was also stolen. The crime happened sometime between 7pm on Saturday (August 20) and 8.45am on Sunday (August 21)

"In Aberlady Crescent, Dundee items including an iPad tablet, a Dell Computer, a handbag and two mobile phones were stolen from a house, sometime between 8pm on Saturday night (August 20) and 1am on Sunday morning (August 21).

"Between 5am and 8.30am on Sunday (August 21) a shed was broken into in Strathmartine Road. A McCulloch lawnmower, a power washer, a Wolf power drill and a Maplin cordless drill and shampoo bottles were stolen.

"Anyone who has information that could assist officers with their enquiries into these crimes is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously by phoning 0800 555 111. Please ensure that your property is secured, that you report any suspicious activity to Police and look out for your neighbours."
