Police Investigating Dundee Councillor Hate Crime Claims
Police in Dundee have received a complaint after a City Councillor allegedly sent Islamophobic texts to a colleague.
Police in Dundee have received a complaint over allegations a City Councillor sent Islamophobic texts to a colleague.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said,
"Police Scotland can confirm that a complaint was made on Monday 18th January 2016. Enquiries are at an early stage."
Craig Melville was already facing an investigation by his party over the incident that allegedly took place after the Paris attacks last year.
He's also been referred to the Standards Commission by the leader of the local authority.
Councillor Melville has been suspended by the SNP as well as their investigation continues.
