Police investigating after man approaches 12-year-old in Arbroath

Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was approached by a man in Arbroath.

The incident occurred on Keptie Road, Arbroath at around 5.30pm on Friday, 30th June.

The youngster who was approached was not injured in the incident and fled the scene.

The man who approached the boy is described as in his 60’s, with long grey hair and approximately 6ft in height.

He was wearing ripped jeans and was seen to get out of a dark red SUV style car and approached the boy who ran away.

Officers are keen to speak to two men in the area at the time who might have witnessed the incident and who might have information which could assist enquiries.

Both men are described as having a muscular build. One of the men had blonde facial hair, the other had dark. Both men were wearing Nike jumper's with a green band around the arm.

Constable Keith Beattie said: “We are trying to ascertain the circumstances of this incident, however we know that the man approached the young boy but he was not injured as a result. Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are carrying out door to door enquiries and reviewing CCTV.

“We believe this is an isolated incident and are appealing for the two men who saw this incident or anyone who has any information about the incident to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 3150 of 30 June.”
