Police in Dundee are appealing for information as they investigate two incidents of cars being set on fire in the city.

The first instance of wilful fireraising happened on Finella Terrace at around 2:30am on Friday 16th July, where a black Honda CR-V was deliberately set on fire in the driveway of a house.

Two men, described as both wearing black tops, one wearing black bottoms and the other wearing dark shorts and white shoes, were seen to run from the car and get into a waiting vehicle which then drove off.

Police are also investigating a second similar incident which happened the day before on Thursday 15th. This involved a car being set on fire at the entrance to Middleton Woods to the north of Whitfield, about 1:35am.

Police say they unfortunately have no further details regarding the car due to the extent of the damage caused.

There's an appeal for information on both instances, but police say they're not formally linking them at this time:

"If you have any information that could assist our enquiries, please call 101 or speak to any police officer. Information can also be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 0440 of 16th July."
