Police actions before man fell from bridge probed by watchdog
A watchdog has launched an investigation into the police response before a man fell from a bridge.
A major search was launched after the man was seen entering the River Tay in Perth at around 4am on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has not been found.
Police, Coastguard and the fire service were involved in looking for him at the weekend, while police divers and the air support unit carried out searches on Monday.
The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (Pirc) is investigating the police response before the man's fall.
A Pirc spokesman said: The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has instructed the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner to undertake an investigation into the police response in the lead up to a 25-year-old man falling from the Queens Bridge in Perth in the early hours of Saturday March 18, 2017.
A report on the Commissioner's findings will be submitted to the COPFS in due course.''
