A watchdog has launched an investigation into police use of a Taser on a man in the Highlands.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) is investigating after a Police Scotland officer used the device during an incident involving a 47-year-old man in Glen Shiel earlier this month.
A Pirc spokeswoman said: "The Pirc is carrying out an independent investigation into the discharge of a conducted energy device - commonly known as a Taser - by a Police Scotland officer on September 1.
"The Taser was discharged during an incident in the Glen Shiel area involving a 47-year-old man.
"The matter was referred by Police Scotland for investigation and a report on the Pirc's findings will be submitted to the Deputy Chief Constable in due course."
