Woman admits stealing cash from vulnerable pensioners

A charity organiser from Perthshire plundered the life savings of a 93-year-old woman and robbed an 84-year-old man.

Ann Taylor, 53, pretended to be a pillar of the community while stealing more than £8,000 from the vulnerable pensioners.

Taylor, who was a high profile figure in her community until her fall from grace, spent months stealing thousands from the unsuspecting 93-year-old woman.

At Perth Sheriff Court, Taylor, from Crieff, admitted stealing £8,000 between 1 July 2013 and 27 February 2014 in Muthill, Crieff and Dunblane.

Police started investigating her after a report that money had gone missing from the Girl Guides and she was eventually charged with embezzling £1,337 from the organisation.

The Crown accepted a not guilty plea to that charge when Taylor admitted stealing £8,000 from the unnamed pensioner.

She also admitted stealing from an 84-year-old from his home in Crieff, Perthshire, on 21 October last year.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis deferred sentence until later this month for background reports.
