A Perthshire family says they feel 'numb' after their two dogs were stolen from their farm in broad daylight.
Locked kennels were broken into yesterday afternoon in Amulree, around 10 miles from Dunkeld.
Two of their other dogs managed to escape the thieves.
18-year-old Iona McGregor says she can’t bare to think what’s happened to her cocker spaniels.
"I never thought it would happen to us. Especially where we live, such a small community, but it has," she said.
"Two other dogs managed to get away from them, we don't know how but they did. They thieves also came through the yard, moved a CCTV camera and took a tool to break the padlocks."
The family were on holiday in Scotland when they were alerted by a farm worker that the dogs had been taken.
"The worst thing is not knowing where they are, not knowing what's happening to them, what they're going to do them," added Iona.
"They're only really safe here with, I don't understand how anyone could do this."
A forensic officer was seen at the farm today looking for fingerprints as work to track down those responsible gets underway
A spokesperson for the force said: A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We have received a report of the theft of two dogs from the Amulree area of Dunkeld, which took place on Thursday, 15 July. Enquiries are at an early stage.”
