The event, founded by folk legend Dougie MacLean, has been running since 2005 and says it won't go ahead next year.

Festival director, Jenny MacLean says its down to nothing else but superstition of running on the thirteenth year.

She said: "It's been a wonderful journey so far for Dougie and myself and many of our family and friends over the past twelve years.

"A Journey full of wonderful music and musical friendships re-kindled, of discovering truly stunning venues all over Perthshire and welcome so many enthusiatsts for Dougie's music to his beautiful home county.

"We've had disappointments and frustrations here and there, but we've never had any insurmountable problems.

"Call me superstitious but I just don't want to organise a 13th year! I have a feeling something would go terribly wrong- and you can't argue with gut instinct."

She added: "We totally value the support and goodwill that has grown over the years from the ever increasing number of businesses that have become festival sponsors and pals.

"We hope that many festival fans will still come to Perthshire in 2017 and support this special list!

"So after a break, with time to reflect and project, the festival may blaze back with renewed vigour in the autumn of 2018 or beyond".
