Britain's Got Talent Judge, Alesha Dixon is to headline Perth's Christmas Light Switch On this year.

She will be joined by 90's boy band East 17, who are back by popular demand after performing at the event last year.

Boyzone and Westlife fan favourites, Keith Duffy and Brian MacFadden will also make an appearance under the new name, 'Boyzlife'.

It's not the first year to attract big acts to the Fair City's festive celebrations. Previous performers include last year's main act, Slade and Peter Andre and Billy ocean have also made appearances.

Councillor Ian Campbell, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, said: “Over the last few years Perth has really put itself on the map for Christmas Light Switch On events in Scotland, the team behind the event spend months planning to ensure that what we offer to residents and visitors is a truly wonderful day with activities and entertainment for people of ages.

"This year’s event will be no exception to this and I am looking forward to once again seeing Perth City Centre being full of people enjoying the festivities.

"Every year this event has gone from strength to strength and I think this is a testament to everyone who gets involved from the acts, the stall holders, city centre businesses and those who come out to get into the Christmas spirit.

“The Light Switch On event is the centre piece of the fantastic Winter Festival programme of events that will take us right through to the end of January, and I have no doubt that there is something in the programme for everyone”.

The Christmas Light Switch On kicks off on Saturday 18th November.
