Police are hunting a robber who attacked an 83-year-old man and made off with more than £1000 in cash.

The pensioner was followed from a bus stop in Dundee's Harcourt Street into Canning Street - close to Dundee FC's Dens Park stadium - where he was robbed.

The man is said to have been "badly shaken but not injured" by the attack.

Police said the assailant made off into adjoining Moncur Crescent and through a playpark there towards Marryat Street.

He was described as being six foot in height, of slim build, about 30 years of age with a grey beard. He was wearing black trousers and a black top, along with a woollen tammy.

A spokesman for Police Scotland's Tayside Division said the robber had made off with a "four figure sum" of cash.

He said: "Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting CR/5946/19 or speak to any police officers."
