Forfar pensioner cycling 90 miles to mark 90th birthday
All money raised is going to Alzheimer's Scotland
Harry Racionzer, a Forfar pensioner, is marking his 90th birthday by cycling 90 miles on an exercise bike in Dundee city square.
Money is being raised for Alzheimer's Scotland in honour of Harry's late wife Etta who died last year. Harry said: "We more or less lost her during the pandemic and I felt that, again, I needed to do something, just as a memorial, something of that nature. That's what motivated me to do it."
Nearly £1,800 has been raised so far as Harry takes on day one of his challenge which is being completed over Monday and Tuesday.
On the amount of donations he's received, Harry said: "I thought at first it would be old relatives and old friends, but there's a lot of outsiders that seem to be doing it as well. So, I'm grateful to everybody who's making a contribution."
Harry is partially sighted but isn't letting that stop him to complete his challenge. His daughter, Fiona Towell said: "He's always been quite determined, but, it's difficult when you're partially sighted. In fact, he's losing sight quite rapidly now and that frustrates him because he used to go out walking and do things out doors and awful lot more but he can't do that any more."
