Paul Hartley wants Dundee to turn tables on Celtic
Dundee will try to mimic Celtic's Champions League attitude when the two sides meet at Dens Park on Saturday, according to manager Paul Hartley.
Dundee will try to mimic Celtic's Champions League attitude when the two sides meet at Dens Park on Saturday, according to manager Paul Hartley.
The Premiership leaders travel north on the back of a pulsating 3-3 draw with Manchester City.
Brendan Rodgers' team were well worth their first Champions League point against a side who had won their first 10 games under Pep Guardiola but Hartley will try to turn the tables.
He said: “It was always going to be difficult playing a top team in fantastic form but Celtic had an outstanding performance last night.
“We know we are up against a quality side.
“We have to make the game difficult for them, a bit like Celtic did to Man City in terms of how they played, pressed and quality on the ball.
“It was a fantastic game of football and a game Celtic deserved something from.”
Hartley believes the result was an indication that Scottish football is not as bad as some make out, while also testament to Celtic's recruitment of the former Swansea and Liverpool boss.
The former Celtic midfielder said: “I have never been one to criticise the Scottish game, a lot of people have.
“They were against a team that no-one had taken points from so for Celtic to show that level of commitment and quality against a top team who is worth hundreds of millions, shows you that we are not too far behind.
“I think that is down to bringing Brendan Rodgers to Scotland and what excitement it has caused in terms of a high-profile manager that he is, a quality manager, a quality coach whom I have huge respect for.
“You look at what he is trying to do at Celtic and transform the team, not just in Scotland but in Europe, so Celtic deserve a lot of credit for bringing him in.”
