Paul Hartley hails Dundee's second-half performance in comeback win

Dundee manager Paul Hartley praised his side for their second-half display after seeing them come from behind to thrash Dumbarton 6-2 at Dens Park.

The hosts took a 16th-minute lead through Greg Stewart but then found themselves trailing at the break as goals from Frazer Wright and Gregor Buchanan put Dumbarton 2-1 ahead.

However, it was all one-way traffic after the interval with Stewart netting twice to complete his hat-trick and Kane Hemmings (two) and Darren O'Dea also on the scoresheet.

It was Dundee's first win in the Betfred Cup and a satisfied Hartley said: It was a good second-half performance.

We were okay for spells in the first half but we were more like it after the break.

We've still got two weeks to go to be where we should be at this stage of the season so it's good from that point of view.

We scored some good goals and the movement was excellent in the forward areas.

I'm pleased about that and we know we can be a good team when we get it right.''

Dumbarton manager Stevie Aitken felt the final scoreline was tough on his side.

He said: I didn't think it was a 6-2 game so it's harsh in that respect.

We've just got to take it on the chin.''
