Over 400 pupils at Auchmuty High school in Glenrothes are self-isolating due to a coronavirus outbreak.

The headteacher has shared an online video confirming 10 students and six members of staff have returned positive results.

A total of 13 staff are self-isolating, with the overall attendance rate at approximately 50%

Headteacher Alan Pithie said: "This sounds an incredibly horrendous picture, and it is. This is an incredibly difficult situation to be going through.

"However there are emerging facts which make it a slightly righter picture. The really encouraging sign is we haven't had any more positive cases for the beginning of this week.

"Those pupils who tested positive last week were already self isolating, we're not seeing new positive cases coming into the school on an ongoing basis.

"The hope is we are containing this outbreak."
