Firefighters respond to chemical spillage at Ninewells Hospital

Firefighters in Dundee are responding to a chemical spillage at Ninewells Hospital.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident at 3:13pm on Tuesday, 18th June 2024.

Three fire appliances and a specialist vehicle have been dispatched to the scene at the hospital.

No injuries have been reported.

No services were impacted and no staff or patients were affected.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 3.13pm on Tuesday, 18 June to reports of a chemical spillage at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and a specialist vehicle to the scene.

“No injuries have been reported.

“Firefighters are currently working to make the area safe.”

An NHS Tayside spokesperson said, “A small chemical spillage occurred in an area at Ninewells Hospital this afternoon.

"As per the safety protocols the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended.

“There was no impact to services and no patients or staff were affected.”
