One of Tayside's top doctors is warning covid-compliance is vital ahead of the staggered reopening of schools next week.

The First Minister confirmed yesterday levels are at their lowest across Scotland since October, but there's warnings to the public not to become complacent, despite the fall in covid deaths and cases.

Dr Emma Fletcher reported the number of new cases reported in the past week across Tayside is at the lowest levels for the past few months -- but advised the public to stick with the rules to ensure the number of cases remain low.

She also warned that it's still not known if the vaccine helps prevent the spread of the virus.

P1s to P3s will be back on Monday - as will some senior high school pupils who are taking practical courses.

In a video posted on Twitter, Director of Public Health at NHS Tayside, Dr Emma Fletcher, gave an update on the COVID-19 situation, and called on everyone to continue following the government guidance.

She also claimed over a third of people who are eligible for the vaccine in Tayside have now been vaccinated.

Dr Fletcher also praised the vigilance of the public so far, saying the drop is "direct result" of people in Tayside following the guidance.
