Murray Davidson wants to rid St Johnstone of inconsistency
Saints host Hibs fresh from a 4-nil victory against Tayside rivals Dundee.
Midfielder Murray Davidson is determined for St Johnstone to use their derby exploits as a springboard to rid them of inconsistency.
Saints host Hibs on Friday, March 16, fresh from a 4-0 victory against Tayside rivals Dundee at Dens Park.
Victory could revive their Premiership top-six hopes if Hearts were to falter against Partick Thistle the following day and Davidson is eager to ensure their Dens Park showing was no flash in the pan.
“It's obviously good to go into the game on such a convincing win and it's a game we can look forward to, but we have been here before and we need to try and build on what we did at the weekend,'' he said.
“Any time you win, it doesn't matter if you win 1-0 or 6-0, the mood is always a lot happier so the result has lifted the place because we were a little disappointed in the couple of results before it.
“To win in such convincing fashion can only be good for us but we have to build on it. There is no use in sitting after the game on Friday saying we have let ourselves down. We need to get more consistency and we feel we are more than capable.''
Hibs also go into the game on a high following a derby triumph after beating Hearts 2-0 last Friday night but they have yet to beat St Johnstone this season.
However, Davidson said: “The home game, I only played half the game but I thought they were one of the strongest teams we had played this season.
“They have got very good individuals and Neil Lennon has done a very, very good job because expectations at a club like Hibs are high.
