Police officer dies while on duty in Montrose

Tributes are being paid to the officer - there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Tributes are being paid to a police officer who died while on duty in Angus.

They passed away in Montrose on Tuesday afternoon – the death isn’t being treated as suspicious.

Police Scotland’s Tayside Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Andrew Todd said: “The sympathies of everyone at Police Scotland are with the officer's family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Colleagues have paid tribute to the officer whose death comes on the eve of the annual Scottish Police Memorial Service.

The Scottish Police Federation tweeted to say its ‘devastating news.’

Callum Steele, who’s General Secretary of the body, described the news as ‘devastatingly sad.'
