Monifieth McDonald's destroyed in major blaze

All staff on shift where safely evacuated

The McDonald's branch in Monifieth has been destroyed following a fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Four fire appliances and a high reach appliance attended the scene once the Scottish Fire and Rescue service where alerted to the blaze at 1:13am on Tuesday, 21st November 2023.

All staff on shift at the 24-hour restaurant where safely evacuated from the premises.

One fire crew remain on the scene.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.13am on Tuesday, 21 November to a fire at a commercial property at Ethiebeaton Park, Monifieth.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a high reach appliance to the scene.

“No casualties have been reported, one crew remain on scene.”

A McDonald's spokesperosn said: “Following a serious fire onsite, our Monifieth - Arbroath Road restaurant is currently closed.

"All employees on shift at the time were safely evacuated and the Fire & Emergency Services are still in attendance at the scene.”

In a social media post Monifieth & Sidlaw Councillor Lloyd Melville said: "I very much hope nobody has been hurt by this fire. Thank you to the fire service for working to put this out. "
