The Environment watchdog is advising people not to bathe or paddle in the water at Monifieth beach.

SEPA has said they are dealing with an ongoing pollution incident potentially affecting the water there following a routine bathing water sample.

A spokesperson for the organisation told us:

“Sample results indicated a higher-than-expected bacterial count, and the bathing water will continue to be closely monitored.

Electronic bathing water signs have been updated to notify users of the pollution incident and to avoid bathing and paddling as a precautionary measure.

Precautionary advice against bathing will remain in place until SEPA are satisfied this incident is not impacting water quality at Monifieth."
