Body found in search for a missing Arbroath man

While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of Leon Gibson has been informed.

The body of a man has been recovered from a burn in the Hercules Den area of Arbroath.

The discovery was made at around 11am on Monday, 26th December.

Formal identification has yet to take place, however, the family of Leon Gibson has been informed.

Inquires into the death are continuing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Police are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

The 21-year-old was last seen at around 6:45am on Monday 26th December in the Hercules Den area of the town.

Leon is described as 6ft 3in, slim with blond hair and was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, joggers and trainers.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen Leon since 6:45am on Monday 26th December or anyone with information on his whereabouts to come contact them.

Locals are also being asked to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings.
